HOURLY REQUIREMENTS FOR VETERINARIANS

32 hours every 2 years

8 hours may be obtained online  

HOURLY REQUIREMENTS FOR VETERINARY TECHNICIANS

16 hours every 2 years

4 hours may be obtained online

SPECIFIC REQUIRED COURSES

The topic and/or objectives must relate directly to the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery or veterinary technology.

 

Opioid Prescribing – The continuing competency requirements for a veterinarian who prescribes controlled substances shall include at least 3 HOURS of continuing education biennially regarding prescribing opiates. The continuing education may include, but is not limited to, education regarding prescribing and administering opiates, the risks and indicators regarding the development of addiction to opiates, and emergency opiates situations. 1/2 hour of the 3 hours shall cover the prescription drug monitoring program. https://nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=38-145
