HOURLY REQUIREMENTS FOR VETERINARY TECHNICIANS

20 hours every 2 years

20 hours may be obtained online

SPECIFIC REQUIRED COURSES

The topic and/or objectives must relate directly to the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery or veterinary technology.

 

Veterinarians – Of these 20 credit hours: 1) At least 17 shall be in surgery, medicine, or dentistry; 2) No more than 4 shall be in courses related solely to business management; 

 

Veterinarians – Opioid Prescribing – 1 HOUR shall be in topics concerning prescription opioid drugs, including the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion. 

 

Veterinary Technicians – Management, human resources and other types of CE may be submitted to a maximum of 50% of the hours needed. 50% must be technician/scientific-type CE.
