At its meeting held May 14, 2020, the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners determined that as a result of the public health state of emergency declared by Governor McMaster on March 13, 2020, licensees may obtain all continuing education hours required for renewal via online Registry of Approved Continuing Education of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (RACE) approved courses for the 2019/2021 renewal cycle only. Courses must continue to meet the requirements as outlined in S.C. Regulations 120-6, with the amended allowance of the online satisfaction.
HOURLY REQUIREMENTS FOR VETERINARIANS
30 hours every 2 year
15 hours may be obtained online
HOURLY REQUIREMENTS FOR VETERINARY TECHNICIANS
10 hours every 2 year
5 hours may be obtained online
SPECIFIC REQUIRED COURSES
A veterinarian authorized pursuant to state and federal law to prescribe controlled substances shall obtain a South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control Controlled Substances Registration and complete at least two hours of continuing education every two years related to approved procedures of prescribing and monitoring controlled substances listed in Schedules II, III, and IV of the schedules provided for in Sections , , and .
